2006 - Purchase |
West Harbour Park (Länsisatamanpuisto) is the central feature
of a substantial town expansion area of Helsinki. An international
landscape architectural design competition had been announced for
the area, which is defined by the structural master plan for urban
development. Honoured by a purchase, the design lays out the area
as a generously dimensioned open space continuously developing towards
the waterfront.
The design interprets the characteristics of the finnish landscape.
Pine groves and open grassy areas are communicating the parks
open overall concept, artificial rocks and lakes are an urban image
of a familiar natural environment.
