Within Burghausen's quarter Neustadt an urban park has been developed
as the central site of the "Landesgartenschau" (state horticultural
show) 2004. Three different edgings define a wide meadow and mark
the boundaries of the park. The three zones are distinguished by different
uses and spatial experiences. Located between a former meander of
the river Salzach and the Old Town a second main site of the decentralized
exhibition concept lies within a prominent scenic setting: Europe's
longest castle.
It marks the ending and apex of an urban axis.
The open space of the castle's six courtyards have been completely
remodelled and partially complemented.
Within historically well documented areas gardens have been reconstructed
or have otherwise been interpreted by means of contemporary landscape
architecture. |
