Königstein Town Square
Client: City ofKönigstein
Area: 0,2 ha
Budget: 0,9 Mio EUR
Architects: RKA Architekten, Dresden
Planning: in progress

The town of Königstein gets a new centre: a multifunctional square with a German- Czech Community Centre as well as a building for citizens and guests. The solitaire with townscape formative effect is the only building on the square and frames its edge to the slope. The square is distinguished by three zones: The central area, defined by the new community centre, is designed for flexible uses and is kept free of larger structures. It is a place for events and activities. A new planted cherry grove offers shade and becomes a place of contemplation and relaxation. The square`s edge along the river Biela becomes part of the Biela-promenade. The new Königstein centre is a module of the urban development to use the town`s touristic potentials and to get a more attractiv design for citizens and guests.
