Open space design
Jena, 2003

A new research building was established on the scientific-technical campus in Jena-Beutenberg. Due to the natural features of the landscape the courtyard is tiered along the slope. The green terraces offer a unique place for rest and a new perspective on to the surroundings.

The planting and materials are used to enhance the modest elegance of the architecture. The furniture has almost entirely been specifically designed for this site. A line of bamboo along the main axis leads from the courtyard right into the building itself.
