Bad Doberan, 1993
In 1824, on a field between Bad Doberan and the seaside resort Heiligendamm, the first horse racing track on the European continent had been established.Following the venue’s deconstruction after the war first concepts for reconstruction were developed in 1991. This time a multifunctional venue was designed that would be able to accommodate large events and a variety of sporting events. Existing linden tree avenues were incorporated into the design, which today lead from the newly established train station towards the bleachers. The 1800 m race track is designed in a natural way incorporating the site’s slightly undulating topography.Show ring, paddock and placing judge’s tower are further parts of the sports complex.
