Dresden, 2012

A new ambulance station for Dresden’s fire brigade and emergency medical services has been constructed near Dresden Central Station. It is surrounded by an area which is designed, on one hand to serve its necessary functions but on the other hand also considers the urban situation. The red façade stands in contrast to the light birch trees which at the same time overcast the parking lot for employees and visitors. The concept for the area in the back is designed for smooth internal traffic and also integrates a practice area for regular training of the emergency workers. The excess rain water is led into a pan which allows the water to seep away.
