Freiraumkonzept für die Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule (RWTH)

Aachen, 2007

The city of Aachen is determined to develop comprehensive design guidelines for the city centre. An essential part of the assignment is the integration of the RWTH campus (Rhenish-Westphalian Technical University).Through the development of a master plan the long term general framework is being defined. Respectively, the existing open space potentials are being analysed and their individual qualities strengthened. Through traffic reorganization on campus new space for recreation is emerging. "Campus-labs" are public research places for education not only inside the institutes. The user will be listening in hearing gardens, looking through institute peep-holes and experimenting with kinetic objects.
