The Institute of Physics is situated in the close neighbourhood to the campus of the TU Chemnitz. A paved forecourt is extended to the whole width of the building. The square with its contemporary style and its high-grade materiality accents the representative character of the entrance area.
There are two courtyards, which serve the employees as a pause stay. They also have the function of aeration and light incidence. In the big courtyard the ventilator cubes and the function of aeration form the design theme of a “green lung”. The small courtyard is a represantative place and completes the consultation rooms in this part of the building. A tree row beside the access is used to integrate the functional areas of delivery and storage.
