Open space at the Qingdao Grand Theatre
Qingdao, 2010
QIOThe new Grand Theatre of Qingdao refers to the nearby Laoshan- Mountains both in architecture and open space design. The cubical stone opera building is an adaption of the nearby mountain massif and lies embedded in an extensive green park. A strong protruding \"floating\" roof constitutes the buildings identity from afar.Small groups of pine trees are loosely scattered around the park and establish a rhythmic structure. Two large-scaled squares with water features and seating areas form an impressive entree for the new opera house.
