Public open space design
Dresden, 2007

A concept for redesigning Schlesischer Platz (Silesian Square), the square outside Dresden-Neustadt station, has been developed. In order to create a worthy entrée to the city the whole traffic situation had to be rearranged.Vehicular has been bundled in the western part of the square in order to establish a pedestrian environment in the eastern and central part. Surface elements, arranged parallel to the railway tracks are emphasizing the special character of the site and at the same time, they connect the drop-off zone with the station’s main entrance.

On the southern square a representative green area with various grasses accentuates the distinctive part.
